Passing of Former National Security Advisor Bud McFarlane

Partnership for a Secure America (PSA) is deeply saddened by the loss of one of its earliest Advisory Board members, Bud McFarlane. Beyond making several PSA presentations to congressional staff, McFarlane had a remarkable career in foreign policy, initially resigning from the military as a Marine Corps lieutenant colonel, only to enter politics through assisting then Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger. He later served as staff on the Senate Armed Services Committee, and ultimately took on the role of deputy National Security Advisor to President Ronald Reagan, contributing in large part to the Strategic Defense Initiative, or “Star Wars.” More about Bud McFarlane’s career and the strides he made in U.S. foreign policy can be found here.
